When personal faculties begin to fade in elderly men and women, it becomes an emotional time for families.
Whether it’s your parents or grandparents it’s a monolithic decision that can fall on the shoulders of family members. Mom or dad or even a husband or wife just doesn’t seem to be as well as they used to be. The conundrum that pops up is knowing when it’s time to get help for them, especially when it involves moving anyone out of their home. However, signs may be there. You just need to recogzine a few.

Sign1 – Memory. Are they suddenly forgetful, afraid, or confused? Perhaps aware that something is wrong, but keep it to themselves.
Sign2 – Impaired Skills. Bad judgment and the inability to make good choices. Maybe in the early stages of Alzheimer’s where they wander off, get lost or drive someplace unknown to them.
Sign3 – Danger. Not able to recognize danger for themselves. Unaware of steps or stairs or not turning off a gas stove or appliances.
Sign4 – Isolation. Failure to recognize others and difficulty following a conversation. Mental and physical decline.
